We’ll examine that piece next week: On June 10, the New York Times featured a front-page report about “ability grouping” in the public schools.
The report was fascinating, in various ways. We don’t necessarily mean that as a compliment, though we found the report quite intriguing.
We realized we couldn’t do the piece justice in a single report. What has happened to “ability grouping” in recent years? We plan to look at this front-page report in a series next week, starting with a basic question:
Questions of quality to the side, why in the world was this report featured on the front-page?
